Android 4.4 KitKat “coming soon” to Rogers Moto X

Motorola Moto X

The same day that Motorola announced the Moto G, CEO Dennis Woodside also announced that the Moto X would be updated to Android 4.4 “in a matter of weeks.” The company made good on its promise as it has begun to roll out the upgrade in certain markets but Canada has unfortunately yet to be one. But there is good news today. In an update today to its OS upgrade schedule found in its Community Forums, Rogers revealed that it is “coming soon.”

Granted that this is far from a specific timeline but Rogers would not list the update on its schedule if it was more than a couple of weeks away (or so we hope). So, while it may not yet be time to be checking for an update every 5 minutes, that time will likely be upon us very soon.

While Fido has yet to indicate any similar news, it is likely that the update will hit its version of the Moto X around the same time.

The latest document also has Android 4.4 KitKat hitting the HTC One by the end of January (as originally announced) but the HTC One mini update has now slipped to the end of February.

Needless to say, we’ll let you know as soon as the Rogers Moto X update begins to roll out.
