  1. Since I’m not Canadian I hope you can help me answer some questions.
I’m looking for a S5 but it has to be unlocked. I’m not able to do anything with a plan now since it’s unknown for how long exactly I can stay in Canada. I have a pay as you go by Bell right now which works fine but my phone also needs to work on whatever other provider I put in there in case I go back to the Netherlands for a holiday or longer or for when I get my paperwork sorted out and maybe some day change providers or take a plan or whatever.

Are all the out right phones unlocked or are they still locked to a provider?

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Ellen,

I hope you’re enjoying your stay in Canada.

If you purchase your GS5 through a carrier, it will be locked. If you pick one up, you could unlock it using a service like cellunlocker.net.

One thing to check though is compatibility with the radio bands supported in the Netherlands.
