LG B2 training event points to a summer launch for the LG G3?

Rumoured LG B2 training eventA leaked training event invitation may have given us our best clue yet as to when LG plans to launch its next flagship smartphone, the LG G3. The document obtained by Geek.com refers to a “B2 Device Training and Launch Overview Event” set for June 17 and 18, 2014.

Is the B2 another upcoming LG device? That appears unlikely. Our own sources have suggested that it is instead the codename for the LG G3, much as B1 was the codename for the LG G Pro 2. Running with that assumption, it would appear that LG will hold internal training events in mid-June in likely preparation for a launch shortly thereafter.

At least three LG G3 variants are already in the works: The LG-D850 for AT&T, the LG-D851 for T-Mobile USA and the LG-VS985 4G for Verizon Wireless. We can also expect an international version and possibly some other carrier-specific variants.

As for the LG G3, recent rumours have hinted that it will sport a 5.5-inch WQHD (2560×1440) display as well as “advanced personalization” features. It is also expected to come with an octa-core processor developed by LG (codenamed Odin) and a 16MP camera. It is likely to retain the back buttons of the LG G2 although it could also sport a more advanced multifunctional backside button.

More recent rumours have suggest instead that it may come instead with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and a 13MP camera. Could the latter be the same as the one on the LG G Pro 2? If so, it will come with OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilizer Plus), 4K ULTRA HD video recording, 120FPS HD video recording (something we’ve heard ourselves) and slow-motion editing and a Burst Shot mode that can take up to 20 continuous shots to create a short video?

We’ll see if we can find some corroborating evidence for this latest development.
