LG-D855 loses WQHD resolution?

Updated UAProf file for LG-D855Just over a week ago, the UAProf file for the LG-D855 popped up on LG’s website, showing that this still-unannounced model would sport a WQHD (2560×1440) display. The model number was very similar to others recently spotted, including the LG-D850 and LG-D851, that had been linked to the upcoming LG G3 largely based on the supposition that any device sporting a WQHD display was likely to be released as a flagship model. An odd thing has now happened though: The UAProf file has been updated and the LG-D855 now “only” sports a Full HD (1080×1920) resolution.

It’s not clear what has led to this change. Interestingly, the UAProf file for the LG-D850 still shows a WQHD (2560×1440) display.

The latest LG-D855 file also shows that the LG G3 will come with LTE, HSPA, EDGE and GPRS connectivity. That at least remains consistent with the LG-D850’s file.

Given that the LG-D855 has yet to be announced, its UAProf file could be updated any number of times still and it may yet see a WQHD display if it does turn out to be an LG G3 variant. It could also be an early sign that the LG G3 may not come with such a display after all. Equally plausible is that the LG-D855 is not an LG G3 variant after all but a different device.

Based on earlier rumours, the LG G3 could launch with an octa-core processor developed by LG, Android 4.4.2 KitKat, a 13MP camera (likely with OIS) capable of 4K video capture and 120fps slow motion and perhaps even a new multifunctional backside button.

LG is reportedly looking to launch the LG G3 in the summer and is aiming to have it out sooner than the LG G2 which it unveiled in August 2013.
