LG officially unveils LG G Watch R

LG G Watch RJust days ahead of IFA 2014, LG today officially unveiled the LG G Watch R, billed as “the world’s first watch-style wearable device to feature a circular Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display and utilizes 100 percent of its watch face.” Much like the much anticipated Moto 360, the round design is reminiscent of traditional watches.

Typical watch features included on the LG G Watch R include a stainless steel frame and an interchangeable 22mm calf skin leather strap. But unlike more traditional watches, the LG G Watch will also offer a a suite of watch faces and run all compatible apps available in the Google Play Store.

“What we’ve noticed in the year of the wearable is that this is a category that can’t be compared to smartphones and tablets,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Wearables are also accessories and consumers will want more than one to choose from. So we wanted to complement the modern design of the original G Watch with the classic look of the G Watch R. Customers can’t go wrong with either device.”

LG provided the following specification details:

  • Processor: 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400
