Marketing campaign for next Moto X set to start with Moto X+1?

Rumoured Moto X+1 brandingThe usually reliable @evleaks tonight fired off a tweet that suggests that Motorola is getting ready to start the publicity machine for the next Moto X iteration. Last year, it kicked off a marketing campaign in July that culminated a month later with the introduction of the Moto X. It now looks like it may take a similar approach once more and build it around what will be called the Moto X+1.

It’s unlikely (and we hope) that Motorola will call the Moto X successor the Moto X+1. The +1 is likelier to be a reference to that successor until such time that Motorola is ready to unveil the official name (the Moto X2 or Moto X2 perhaps?).

What could the next Moto X bring with it? Aside from a bump in specifications, we could see Motorola expand its MotoMaker program to include more customizability options. It will also continue to improve its touchless control and contextual awareness features while still striving for a balance between hardware and price. In other words, it may not have the latest specifications but may well again be a device that delivers solid performance while distinguishing itself with features unique to a Motorola smartphone as the Moto X did. At this point, this is all conjecture but we’ll hopefully hear more soon about this Moto X+1 device.

There is no word yet on when Motorola will announce the Moto X successor but it’s likely that such details will surface in the weeks to come.

If you have your own theory as to what Motorola could be up to with the Moto X+1, drop us a note below.
