Next Samsung Unpacked event set for September 3 at IFA 2014

Samsung Unpacked IFA 2014We’ve been hearing since May that Samsung would hold its annual IFA event on September 3. Following last week’s rumours, According to SamMobile, Samsung has now begun to send out press invitations to its next Samsung Unpacked event and it will indeed fall on September 3 as expected.

The star of the show is expected to be the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Rumours to date point to the Note 4 coming with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 or Samsung Exynos 5433 processor (depending on region), a 5.7-inch WQHD (2560×1440) display, Android 4.4 KitKat, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a 16MP camera with OIS. It could also come with a metal frame and a UV sensor. A  “new form factor” was promised by one executive but it remains to be seen exactly what he meant. Could it incorporate a Youm flexible display that would wrap around the sides, effectively making it a three-sided display as one rumour suggested back in April?

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is likely to be accompanied by new accessories, including a virtual reality headset known as the Gear VR.

If the metal-clad Samsung Galaxy Alpha does not materialize this month as expected, it may also make an appearance at IFA 2014.

One word of caution: Take that September 3 Samsung Unpacked date with a grain of salt. SamMobile has pulled down its post about the event for unspecified reasons.  If it does take place on September 3 as we expect, Samsung will likely livestream as it has done in the past.
