Public Mobile announces new Canada-wide 4G network is ready to go

Public MobileNow owned by TELUS, Public Mobile is ready to begin migrating its customers away from its old CDMA network over to the TELUS HSPA network. As we reported earlier, the move will require that customers get a new handset, a move that has displeased more than a few customers. Aside from offering a number of devices at reduced rates and letting cusomers bring their own unlocked, compatible phone, Public Mobile is also sweetening the deal with 2 months of free service when they make the switch.

Our network is ready and our current customers are invited to make the move over the next couple of months.

Moving to our new Canada-wide 4G network will offer you substantial advantages over our current ne [sic]

  • We have national coverage, so you can receive calls across Canada without roaming charges. We now cover 97% of the Canadian population.
  • Access to better, brand name phones.
  • The convenience of SIM card technology.
  • Faster data speeds, for a much better browsing experience.

Public Mobile TELUS migration offer

The service credit will be applied to the reduced price of the phone you choose. As a result, you could end up with a credit on your next bill.

For those not interested in buying a new phone, Public Mobile is also offering customers a “free, gently used phone in exchange for your old phone” but that offer does not include the two months of service credits.
