ASUS ZenWatch Android Wear 5.1.1 rollout now underway

ASUS ZenWatchThe rollout of Android Wear 5.1.1 (also known as version 1.1.1.1910765) to the ASUS ZenWatch is now underway. The first reports began to trickle in yesterday via Reddit.

This latest update brings a number of new features to the Google wearables platform including Wi-Fi support (a feature that the ZenWatch will not be able to take advantage of unfortunately), low power always-on display functionality for certain apps, gestures to scroll through notifications and apps and the ability to draw emojis on the watch screen.

If the update has yet to hit your ASUS ZenWatch and patience is not your strong point, you can download the Android 5.1.1 OTA update directly from Google.

The LG Watch Urbane was the first watch to benefit from Android Wear 5.1.1 (from 5.0.2). It’s good to see the update now starting to reach other Android Wear devices. Now all we need is a timeline as to when those other devices will get upgraded.
