BURG 31: Smart Phone Watch for kids and seniors

BURG 31BURG, a Dutch-based design firm, that already offers a number of smartwatches this week unveiled the BURG 31. Billed as “the first standalone phone/safety smartwatch for kids and seniors,” it is a a standalone smartwatch that offers GPS tracking capabilities and cellular connectivity. The former informs parents of their children’s whereabouts while the latter puts them within easy reach of aging parents.

The BURG 31 looks like a traditional watch with an analog display with a Miyota watch movement. But it also supports up to three programmable pre-set phone numbers and full cellular capabilities allowing users to make and receive calls with with speakerphone (or via a paired smartphone).

The BURG 31 is targeted to both the children’s market through its GPS child tracking features, as well as to the senior market through its 911 emergency call feature.  Unique to BURG, this special 911 emergency feature replaces the stereotypical, embarrassing and expensive “I’ve fallen” pendant that seniors have an aversion to wearing due to the stigma it creates.  With the BURG 31, seniors have an inconspicuous, fashionable watch with one-touch emergency access, 3 concealed pre-set phone numbers and GPS tracking.
