Concept Sunday: Wearable Alzheimer’s Pill Box

Alzheimer's wearable pillbox conceptAlzheimer’s is a chronic neurodegenerative disease that is made more difficult to manage due to the fact patients suffer from memory loss. This makes it challenging for them to remember to take the medications that treat some of the symptoms and effects. The wearable Alzheimer’s Pill Box designed by Assal Hazrati is a concept that could help patients easily stick to a prescribed schedule.

The Alzheimer’s Pill Box would be worn around the wrist like a watch or fitness tracker. Unlike those devices, its primary function would be to remind patients to take their medication at specific times. A pillbox is incorporated into the device itself, providing easy access to said medications.

The Alzheimer’s Pill Box also comes with a monochrome display to show off a range of information including heart rate, alarms and more. This suggests that it is also equipped with a range of sensors to monitor the patient’s health.

Alzheimer's wearable pillbox conceptThere is no reason to believe that the Alzheimer’s Pill Box could not be modified to offer similar functions for a range of other medication dispensing purposes. Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity could even send data back to the doctor who could then adjust dosage appropriately.

What the Wearable Alzheimer’s Pill Box lacks in style is easily overlooked by the convenience and freedom it could provide patients.
