Van Cleef & Arpels’ contribution to the upcoming Only Watch 2015 auction is a unique version of its Pierre Arpels Heure d’ici & Heure d’ailleurs (Time Here & Time Elsewhere in English) timepiece. This particular edition pays tribute to the Monaco Principality with a “radiant Mediterranean blue” dial with a piqué motif at its center.
The Van Cleef & Arpels Heure d’ici & Heure d’ailleurs dial is quite unusual. Able to track dual time zones, it shows the hours for the two at the 5 o’clock and 11 o’clock marks. A single retrograde minutes register occupies the majority of the left side of the dial with the right spelled out on the opposite side.
The diamond set in the crown located at the traditional three o’clock position is a reminder of the company’s roots as a jeweler.
