Pebble announced today that the first 10,000 Pebble Time smartwatches will begin to ship on schedule later this week. Shipments will continue through to mid-June by which time all Pebble Time backers can expect to have a shipment tracking number.
Pebble’s Kickstarter campaign was the most successful one to date and raised over US$20 million. But for those who missed out on placing their order through the campaign, Pebble also answered “a burning question” by announcing that it will begin to take Pebble Time pre-orders on June 22nd for those who missed out on the first opportunity to get their hands on one.
Kickstarter backers may be the first to experience the tiny moments of awesome Pebble Time brings to life, but they won’t be the last.
Pebble also announced more features for Pebble Time, including Voice Note, Stocks and Weather apps as well as improved international language support. It also announced more third-party apps, including ones from ESPN, iHeartRadio, TripAdvisor and Uber.
It is also making bringing more iPhone voice features to the Pebble Time a priority. Voice replies to Gmail notifications for iPhone users are already in the works and more will be added in future updates.
Let’s hope that recent rumours of fiscal difficulties don’t derail Pebble’s plans.
