Xiaomi smartwatch to be unveiled on November 24th?

XiaomiXiaomi entered the wearables space last year with the Mi Band. The inexpensive gadget has by all accounts proven to be a hit and may have shipped in excess of 10 million units. It recently followed it up with the Mi Band Pulse which adds a heart rate monitor. With one more press event scheduled for 2015, it now appears that Xiaomi will unveil one more wearable, the oft-rumoured Xiaomi smartwatch.

G for Gadgets (formerly known as G for Games) reports that the 5.5-inch RedMi Note 2 Pro phablet will be unveiled at the company’s November 24th event. According to one of its sources, the Xiaomi smartwatch will be announced alongside. Unfortunately, no details were provided about the device itself. There could be additional devices as well.

Rumours to date have only given us a few hints about the Xiaomi smartwatch’s specifications. One rumour suggests it might be powered by a MediaTek System-on-Chip (SOC) and platform. Another points to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with a 1.3-inch display, 520MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and a heart rate monitor.

With so few details available, a pinch of salt (or two) is highly recommended. We’ll know in a couple of days if it’s time for the Xiaomi smartwatch to move from rumour to reality.
