Apple to partner with Coach on new line of Coach Apple Watch straps?

Rumoured Coach straps for Apple WatchApple took the Apple Watch further into the luxury market last year with a partnership with famed fashion house Hermès. The two companies unveiled the Apple Watch Hermès and a line of straps more recently. It now appears that Apple could soon unveil a second such partnership. According to fashion blog Haute Écriture, Coach, a U.S. Manhattan company best known for its leather bags and purses, could soon unveil its own line of Apple Watch straps.

A Coach sales associate apparently revealed that the line of Coach Apple Watch bands will share the same design aesthetic as the company’s current handbag collection. In all, nine different bands could be available for about US$150 (about CA$200) each. There will be different colours, including white, black and brown. Decorations look to include custom stitching patterns and charms like flowers and stars.

At this point, there are no indications that these Coach straps will come bundled with an Apple Watch and a custom watch face as the Apple Watch Hermès does. This suggests that they will instead be sold solely as accessories.

Things get hazier when it comes to a launch date. While an announcement may come as early as later this month or next month, the straps themselves may not launch until the fall. The confusion comes from different sources providing different time frames. Perhaps Coach will make an appearance at WWDC 2016 and share the stage with Apple to announce their partnership and the new Coach Apple Watch straps?
