Misfit wearables headed to Baselworld 2016

MisfitMisfit is looking to crash the Baselworld 2016 party. Acquired by Fossil last November for US$260 million, it announced that it’s headed to the Fossil Group Global Expo set to take place in Basel, Switzerland, at the same time as Baselworld and will bring “technology credibility and panache to the world’s preeminent watch, jewelry, and accessories show.”

Baselworld is one of the leading events for the watch and jewelry industry. While we at EyeOnMobility focus on the watchmakers and their latest creations, it is also attended by jewellers, precious stones dealers as well as machine and supply companies that support those industries. Some 150,000 people (ranging from representatives from exhibiting companies, to buyers and journalists) from 100 countries descended up on Baselworld 2015.

Much like Vector did last year, Misfit will not be part of the Baselworld event itself but will set up shop not far from it. It will showcase a number of Misfit wearables, including the Shine 2 and Ray Fitness and Sleep Monitor. It will also unveil a new Misfit design studio that integrates Misfit products into a built environment incorporating “natural materials combined with bold, modern features.”

It does not appear that any Misfit wearables will be announced at the Fossil Group Global Expo. The emphasis will instead be on enticing people in town to see watches and jewelry to try one of Misfit’s current devices.
