Is there a better way to celebrate Canada’s 150 birthday than to get a new watch? Better yet, one released to commemorate this Canada’s sesquicentennial anniversary. If this sounds like a good idea, the IWC Portugieser Chronograph Rattrapante Edition “Boutique Canada” is for you.
Announced earlier this year at the opening of IWC Schaffhausen’s new boutique at Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Center, the “Boutique Canada” celebrates the historical event that brought together what are now the provinces of Ontario and Quebec with Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to form the Dominion of Canada on July 1st, 1867. It is only IWC’s fourth model in its Portugieser Rattrapante line.
The Portugieser Chronograph Rattrapante Edition features a double chronograph complication that lets you simultaneously track two events for short periods of time. Pressing the the button at 2:00 start both chronographs. Pressing the the button at 10:00 stops the first timing of the first event while pressing on the the button at 2:00 stops the timing on the second. Pressing the button at 10:00 once more then resets both chronographs.
Canada’s iconic red and white colours are represented on the dial by two red hands and the silver dial. A maple leaf, one of Canada’s most recognizable symbols, is engraved on the case back.

The IWC Portugieser Chronograph Rattrapante Edition “Boutique Canada” can now be pre-ordered from the IWC Schaffhausen Toronto Boutique at Yorkdale Mall in Toronto. It will sell for CA$14,300.
Shipments are expected to begin later this month. As befits the occasion, it will be limited to 150 pieces.
