MicroSD cards to hit 8GB capacity

Samsung has announced that it has managed to squeeze 8GB onto a microSD card, only months after announcing 4GB microSD cards. These latest cards will offer 16MB/s read and 6MB/s write speeds (higher than the Class 4 SDHC standard). Like other microSD cards, they will come with an extender so that they can be used as SD cards as well.

Samsung expects to start shipping these new cards in the middle of 2008. Pricing has not been disclosed.
