New Linux Palm OS release slips into 2008

Back in April, Palm announced that it was working on a new Linux-based mobile computing platform. The new OS and devices running it were expected later this year. But during a recent conference call, Palm CEO Ed Colligan revealed that we will not see any products based on this OS until next year.

The new Palm OS, widely called Palm OS II, is a more consumer focused OS that should include improvements in the area of power management and multitasking.

Palm will continue to use both Windows Mobile and Garnet OS for now and will release new devices based on both before the end of the year.
