Shortly after that wild rumour that Dell could be working on a Smartphone came out, Chris Leckness of Aximsite got on the phone with his Dell contacts. As expected, the answer is that Dell has no immediate plans to launch a Dell branded phone.
If that’s not enough bad news, Dell has pretty much confirmed that it is getting out of the mobile device market. Once the current Dell Axim offerings are gone, they are gone.
The Axims are currently discounted on both the Canadian and US Dell sites so if you’ve been thinking of picking up an Axim, it sounds like there won’t soon be a better time than right now.
