USB 3.0 to be unveiled November 17th

The final USB 3.0 (also known as SuperSpeed USB) specification is set to unveiled at the upcoming SuperSpeed USB Developers Conference taking place November 17 and 18th in California.

USB 3.0 promises to offer speeds up to 5Gbps (about 10 times the speed of USB 2.0). Backed by companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Intel, NEC, NXP Semiconductors, Microsoft, and Texas Instruments, USB 3.0 is expected to become available on PCs and other devices in 2009.
