Google Android 2.3 coming to HTC Desire Z

HTC Desire ZHTC reconfirmed today via its HTC Germany Facebook page that it will offer an Android 2.3 update for the HTC Desire Z. It promised to do so back in May but missed its own ‘end of June’ deadline. The Google-translated post reads:

Thanks to all who wait [sic] patiently for the Gingerbread update for the HTC Desire. We are just beginning to the final stages of testing and planning, with the rollout of FOTA [sic] updates in the coming weeks. It will take some time now before we all will reach it. This will be done by the end of the month.

I expect that we will see the unlocked HTC Desire Z get the update first. Carriers (Bell in Canada) will likely validate the update as well before pushing it out to their customers.

HTC recently announced similar updates for the HTC Desire HD and the HTC Desire.
