Android 4.4.1 rolling out to Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 LTE (2013)

Google Android 4.4 KitKat

As expected, the Android 4.4.1 update rollout may have begun with the Google Nexus 5 but it will also make its way to other devices. While the Nexus 5 may have been the first to start seeing the upgrade, Google has quickly widened availability of the update and is now pushing it to the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 7 LTE (2013).

Android 4.4.1 KitKat comes with a number of camera improvements such as faster focusing, especially in low light, faster white balancing, the ability to pinch-zoom the viewfinder in HDR+ mode and less shutter lag. A changelog is not yet available but other bug fixes are also likely to be included.

The update is also available in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) repository.

As usual, the rollouts are staggered so you may not immediately see the update notification on your phone or tablet. For those impatient ones not ready to try sideloading the AOSP files, you can also trigger a manual check via Settings -> About phone -> System Updates -> Check now.
