HP unveils Windows 8.1-powered Omni 10 tablet

HP Omni 10HP may have introduced four new Android tablets, including the HP Slate 7 Extreme based on the NVIDIA Tegra Note reference design, but it did not overlook Windows. It also announced the HP Omni 10 which will come with an Intel Atom Z3000 processor and Windows 8.1. It will also come with 2GB of RAM, up to 128GB of solid state storage and an 8MP rear-facing camera. It appears it will be marketed to the business segment rather than general consumers.

The 22nm Intel Atom Z3000 is one of Intel’s new Bay Trail processors. It promises up to twice the CPU and GPU performance of older Atom chipsets while also delivering over 10 hours of battery life. For the Omni 10, HP promises up to nine hours of battery life.

HP also introduced two new detachable PCs, the HP Pavilion 11 x2 and the HP Pavilion 13 x2. Few details have been revealed but it will come with an 11.6-inch display, front and rear cameras and in three colours (Pearl White, Flyer Red and Sparkling Black). The HP Pavilion 13 x2 comes with either an AMD A6 or Intel Core processor, a touchscreen IPS display and Windows 8.1.

Like HP’s Android tablets, the HP Omni 10 will launch in the U.S. in November along with HP’s new Pavilion detachable PCs. Pricing was not announced today.
