Apple iPhone 6 production to start in July for Q4 launch?

Apple iPhone 6 concept for Nowherelse

It is increasingly looking like Apple will unveil its next-generation iPhone sometime in the fall, roughly a year after it launched the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. The latest report is the latest to indicate that Apple will adopt a larger display for its iPhone 6 but will also offer an even larger phablet model.

Citing Taiwan’s Industrial and Commercial Times, Japan’s EMSOne indicates that mass iPhone 6 production will begin in July. This certainly lines up well for a September or October launch. The larger phablet device will only enter production in September, suggesting a very late Q4 launch or an early 2015 launch. The latter contradicts earlier reports that such a device might launch as early as May.

The report adds that the iPhone 6 will sport a 4.7-inch display while the phablet device will come with a 5.5-inch display. This is consistent with a growing number of rumours.

The report sheds no light on specifications for the iPhone 6 but an earlier report suggested it would come with a new Apple A8 processor running at 2.6GHz and an “Ultra-Retina” display offering 389PPI. It may also be incredibly thin, measuring perhaps only 0.22 inches (5.59 millimeters).

A report back in March suggested that Foxconn would once again be one of Apple’s manufacturing partners. It reportedly has won an order for 90 million iPhone 6 smartphones.
