LG G3 undergoing certification in Indonesia as LG-D855?

Postel entry for LG-D855With an expected global launch, it is more than likely that the LG G3 will come in a number of variants for different markets and carriers. We’ve already seen a number of potential model numbers. Among them is the LG-D855 which is expected to be a European variant. It has now popped up on Postel’s website. As usual, the Indonesian Telecoms Regulatory body reveals little about the device itself.

The LG-D855 has surfaced in the past on LG’s website courtesy of its UAProf file. While the initial version of the file confirmed that it would come with a WQHD (2560×1440) display and LTE, HSPA, EDGE and GPRS connectivity, an update later downgraded the resolution to Full HD (1080×1920). It’s possible that LG pulled that information down in a (failed) bid not to reveal its hand too soon.

With LG having confirmed yesterday that the LG G3 will launch by the end of June and holding a series of press events in late May, it’s likely that we’ll know very soon whether the LG-D855 is indeed one of the variants of LG’s next flagship smartphone. While nothing ties the LG-D855 directly to the LG G3 at this point, we would not bet against the two being one and the same.

Among the other variants we have seen in the past are the following:

  • LG-D850: AT&T
  • LG-D851: T-Mobile USA
  • LG-LS990: Sprint Wireless
  • LG-VS985: Verizon Wireless

Other rumoured specifications include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, Android 4.4.2 KitKat, a 13MP camera (likely with OIS) capable of 4K video capture and 120fps slow motion and advanced personalization features (like a souped-up Google Now).
