LG looking to trademark LG W Watch brand name

USPTO filing for LG W Watch

LG has yet to release its LG G Watch that we have signs that it’s already looking at additional models. The Korean company last week filed a trademark request for the name W Watch with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) . The filing reveals little about the device beyond confirming that we are indeed looking at some kind of wearable device that will likely communicate with a smartphone or other mobile device:

Watches with the function of wireless communications with electronic terminals such as smartphones, tablet computers, PDA, computers; Watch bands with the function of wireless communications with electronic terminals such as smartphones, tablet computers, PDA, computers; Wristwatches with the function of mobile communications; Clocks; Wristwatches; Electronic clocks and watches

The filing mentions both pulse measuring devices and heartbeat measuring apparatus, suggesting that the LG W Watch could have more of a health focus.

There is no word on availability and pricing yet for this LG W Watch. Given that the LG G Watch is not expected to launch until sometime this summer, the LG W Watch could be either a complimentary product as we mentioned above or even a successor that we might not see until the later portion of the year or even next year.
