Moto 360 makes unscripted appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

Moto 360 on The Tonight Show

The Moto 360 may not be far from its launch. With Google I/O 2014 taking place at the end of the month, there is widespread speculation that both the Moto 360 and LG G Watch will feature prominently at the event as Google launches its Android Wear extension for wearable devices. An imminent launch gained quite a bit of credulity when a Moto 360 showed up on none other than The Verge editor-in-chief and co-founder Joshua Topolsky’s wrist during his appearance last night on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (well spotted, Android Authority!).

The appearance appears to have unscripted. Topolsky did not mention the watch but instead talked about the Lytro Illum camera and Sony’s Project Morpheus headset. The watch was only glimpsed briefly a few times, including one when it lit up to show off a neon watchface as Topolsky put a Morpheus headset on Channing Tatum’s head. The Moto 360 itself was never discussed at any point.

Recent rumours suggest that the Moto 360 could launch as early as July and could sell for as low as US$249.

Was the move a quick tease carefully orchestrated by Motorola and The Verge? Or did Topolsky simply forget that he was wearing one of the most anticipated smartwatches around? We’ll let you be the judge of that.
