OnePlus One shipments now underway

OnePlus One

OnePlus this week announced it would delay OnePlus One shipments to address software security issues found at the last minute. Fortunately, it appears that the fix was an easy one and that CyanogenMod, the team responsible for the modified Android operating system, quickly fixed it. As a result, the company has confirmed that shipments are now underway. Today’s announcement focuses on Europe but confirms that shipments are also underway in Canada and the U.S.

Devices ordered last week and this week will be dispatched Monday and Tuesday by purchase order.

As you might have realized, some users have already received their devices, this is because customs clearance takes less time in the US. For customers in the United States and Canada their phones are being shipped on a daily basis.

Today’s announcement follows one to Android Authority that indicated that shipments to “early users” were about to start:

We did choose to delay the shipment of the first phones in order to make sure the software was secure and provided the best possible user experience. The CyanogenMod team worked very quickly and efficiently and the Open SSL issues have already been fixed. The first OnePlus Ones ship to early users with invites as early as tomorrow.

It’s not immediately clear that OnePlus will be able to fulfill all orders to date with this first wave of shipments but it does appear to be well on its way to doing so.
