Android Wear 1.4 update begins rolling out to Huawei Watch

Huawei WatchThe latest version of Android Wear continues to slowly roll out to the range of smartwatches it powers. The latest to benefit from the Android Wear 1.4 update is the Huawei Watch with the rollout kicking off yesterday. According to Huawei, the update will carry version 6.0 and build number MEC23L.

Interestingly, Huawei announced the roll out on its community forums yesterday when it said, “This will be an OTA due for release beginning today.” It later amended the post to say that they “expect the update to be arriving in the near future” but that they did not yet have “official date on when we will be releasing it.” Despite the confusion, there is a growing number of reports of users seeing the update land on their Huawei Watch.

The update will not only enable the speaker on the Huawei Watch update but also adds new wrist gestures, new voice commands, improved battery life, support for additional languages and more. Enabling the speaker will allow you to make and take calls over Bluetooth without the need to pull your smartphone from your pocket.

You will receive a notification inviting you to upgrade when it becomes available for your watch. If you’ve already upgraded, drop us a note below and let us know how it went.
