Samsung will hold its next press event tomorrow in New York. The invitation that was sent out sheds little light on what it will announce. The tag line “Go, Move, Explore, Create with Galaxy” and the first three words in particular suggest that there could well be a health-focused theme. The concensus is that Samsung will unveil the oft-leaked Gear Fit 2 fitness band along with the Gear IconX Bluetooth earbuds.
While the tag line does mention the Galaxy brand, it appears unlikely that Samsung will unveil new Galaxy smartphones such as a new Note phablet. Not only has the Galaxy Note 5 been on the market for less than a year but the rumour mill has been unusually quiet, suggesting that an announcement is still some time away. Instead, the event will likely focus on devices that will work in conjunction with the Galaxy devices.
The Samsung Gear Fit 2 has been leaked a number of times, even making a brief appearance on one of Samsung’s own websites. The last one revealed details about its expected specifications. The Gear IconX earbuds have also been spotted a few times as well.
The Samsung press event is set to take place Thursday June 2nd at 1700 ET in New York. There is no word yet on whether it will be livestreamed like Samsung’s Unpacked events are.
