Updated Google Fit app includes new Android Wear watch face

Google Fit watch face for Android WearGoogle yesterday announced an updated version of its Google Fit app. Included in the update is a new Android Wear watch face that sports an activity ring subdial very similar to ones sported by watches like the Activité Pop (and its Activité sibling) and Mondaine Helvetica No 1 Smart.

Google Fit has been enhanced to track additional data. Using information including your gender, height and weight, it will now be able to estimate just how far you have travelled and how many calories you have burned doing so.

Your fitness history can now be displayed by activity and grouped by days, weeks or months to give you a sense of how your activities impact your fitness over time. A new smartphone widget makes it easy to see information at a glance.

The new watch face itself will appeal to amateurs of clean analogue style faces. The sub-dial sits at the 3 o’clock position. It tracks your progress against your Google Fit goals.

The updated Google Fit app is available as a free download from Google Play. An OTA update is also rolling out to those who already had older versions installed.
