Gartner assessesment of the iPAQ hw6500

iPAQ hw6500

Gartner has weighed in with an assessment of the recently released HP iPAQ hw6500. In their opinion, although the hw6500 offers more advanced wireless capabilities than most other PDAs, compromises around some specifications will limit its appeal. For example, Gartner feels that the relatively small screen will not appeal to GPS users who are used to large, high resolution screens. They also express concern around the low-capacity 1,200-milliampere-hour battery and 312 MHz Intel processor which will not be powerful enough. And there are more concerns around the fact that the hw6500 does not come with Windows Mobile 5.0.

I suspect that the last point will be addressed with future hw6500 models and possibly with an upgrade for the existing models.
