iPAQs helping protect Logan airport

eWeek looks at how iPAQs are helping state troopers provide security at Boston’s Logan airport. They are now equiped with iPAQs with PocketCop software running over an EDGE network.

The iPAQs provide them with real-time access to a variety of data including driver licenses, including photos, vehicle registrattions, stolen-vehicle information and other criminal databases.

The article also describes how network coverage had to be enhanced and how battery life had to be extended by Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications so that they would last for the duration of an officer’s shift.
