Mozilla 1.5 officially launched

The first major update to the Mozilla Firefox browser has just been launched. Firefox 1.5 introduces a new Software Update feature that will download small updates instead of the complete browser whene security and feature updates are released. It also adds an improved pop-up blocker, forward and backward buttons that load pages faster, draggable tabs, a number of improvements in general usability and support for new Web standards including SVG, CSS 2 and CSS 3 and JavaScript 1.6.

Since its release about a year ago, Firefox has been downloaded over 100 million times and has been increasing market share (anywhere between 6 and 10 percent but over 20 percent here).

The automatic update in Firefox 1.0.x is not yet picking up the new version so you will need to go to Mozilla to download it if you cannot wait.
