No plans for phones for Dell

Back in April, Brighthand reported that Dell might introduce a cellular-wireless handheld by mid-2006. But just after the latest earnings report, Kevin Rollins, Dell’s CEO, said, “We have no intentions or plans to go into the cell phone business”. It will continue to push its Wi-Fi and WWAN (wireless wide-area network) services on notebooks though.

This does not rule out an Axim handheld that includes cellular functionality (like the HP iPAQ h6325 or forthcoming hw6500) but does seem to rule out smartphones for the near future.
