RIM hits 3 million subscribers

I’m sure that a few companies are looking at these numbers with a little of envy! Research In Motion has announced that it now has more than 3 million subscribers using their BlackBerry wireless platform. And a million of these were added in the last 6 months.

“With over 50,000 retail points of presence, accelerated geographic expansion and the anticipated addition of 100 new carriers in 2005, we are scaling our operations for the five million and 10 million subscriber milestones,” according to Jim Balsillie, Chairman and Co-CEO, Research In Motion.

It was only in February 2004 that RIM hit the one million mark. The two million mark was reached in November 2004.
