Calypso Wireless’ patented ASNAP(TM) technology will allow satellite radio signals from carriers such as XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio to be readily received by various mobile wireless devices such as PDAs or iPods.
As people get used to the idea of paying for radio, they will want to have access to listen no matter where they are or what they are doing. “Satellite radio service providers are already working to attract more subscribers by offering new data services like streaming news, stock quotes and sports scores. The next logical step is for them to also try to offer ways for their subscribers to be able to receive their signals in more places, like in their homes or at work and via all types of mobile devices, such as PDAs, iPods and cell phones.” And Calypso Wireless hopes to be that enabler.
The press release does not reveal details such as whether this ability would come in the form of an add-on or whether it would be built directly into future devices.
