The ups and downs of Research in Motion

RIM has been having a rough go of it recently. It is facing a complete shutdown of services in the US and a federal judge just rejected a request to approve a settlement previously worked out with patent-holding company NTP for $450 million. Now comes word that the US Patent and Trademark Office has rejected one of NTP’s claims as it appears that a Norwegian firm filed the patents prior to NTP.
