It looks like Magneto (or Windows Mobile 2005 as it will be officially known) has hit the web. A number of sites are offering (or offered) links to a leaked ROM upgrade package that includes both a Magneto ROM image and a copy of ActiveSync 4.0 beta. It looks like a lot of work remains though: ActiveSync does not seem to work, BT is unstable, the camera application is very slow and that’s just a few of the issues.
Again, this is a leaked version (not even beta) so beware – Trying this on your PDA could result in you owning a brand new paper weight.
I’m sure that we will see Microsoft asking sites to remove the links or the files shortly.
