Are The Beatles headed to iTunes?

According to CNN Money, negotiations are underway between Apple Computer and Apple Corps. (and the record label EMI) to bring music of The Beatles to iTunes. The deal would offer iTunes limited time exclusivity (exactly how long is part of the discussions) to all of The Beatles’ discography. Other details being worked out include the possibility of using Beatles songs in iTunes commercials, a Beatles-branded iPod (similar to the U2 version) and financial terms. Apparently, Steve Jobs himself is involved in the discussions.

The deal is not a sure thing. Not only have the two Apples a long history of legal battles but I’m sure that Microsoft would love to land an exclusive with The Beatles for its recently launched Zune player.
