Next Generation is reporting that the Sony PlayStation 3 will hit the street in September 2006, according to developer sources. Further speculation suggests that the Japanese launch will take place on September 16, followed by the US on September 21.
Expected around the same time will be PlayStation HUB, a service very much like Xbox Live for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable. It would allow services like chat, downloadable demos, independent games and online play.
