French site Pocket PC Paradise has gotten word from Dell France that rumours about the upcoming demise of the Axim product line are wrong. Instead, it appears that Dell is seeing steady growth in this area and that it is in a development phase for new products.
If so, my guess would be that we will see the Axim product line stick around but with new products that move beyond the traditional PDAs (such as the X51) towards more converged devices.
Update: Chris Leckness over at Aximsite also got a reply from Dell: “Customers and enthusiasts continue to appreciate the Axim X51 family and it is available today on www.dell.com. Consistent with our policies I cannot comment on future products or roadmaps.” Well, if that does not settle it…
