HP has issued a firmware safety recall for the R707 Digital Camera. Some 700,000 of these have been sold across the world. When the R707 camera is used with a non-rechargeable battery, such as a Duracell CP-1, the camera can cause the battery to overheat resulting in a burn and fire hazard while the camera is connected to the ac adapter or camera docking station.
Fortunately, you will not need to send your camera away or take it to a service center. You will simply need to download and apply an updated firmware that controls the battery charging functions.
