HSDPA is old news: Here comes HSUPA

HSDPA’s successor has appeared and its name is HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access). Samsung and Nortel demonstrated the technology at the ITU Telecom World 2006 show in Hong Kong. The network was able to download at a rate of 3.6Mbps and a 2Mbps upstream rate. HSUPA’s download rate could climb up to over 5Mbps in the future.

HSUPA could be deployed as early in 2007 with Orange and Samsung partnering on this deployment. No word on when we could see HSUPA in North America.
