HTC Athena specs revisited

Remember that HTC Athena Pocket PC Smartphone device that promises to come with a detachable keyboard? Definitely an interesting design but the specs left many unimpressed. Arne over at the::unwired has received a message from an anonymous source suggesting that the specs originally posted are incorrect. The specs revealed by this person are quite something:

  • 624MHz processor
  • 5-inch VGA screen
  • GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS
  • 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • 8GB drive
  • 3MP camera with flash
  • GPS
  • VGA out
  • Stereo speakers
  • miniSD

The Athena is supposed to be only a little bit bigger than the HTC Universal but quite a bit heavier. The detachable keyboard is partly made of clear plastic so that when covering the device, a portion of the screen is still visible. The keyboard also works as a stand for the device with magnets holding the keyboard and device together to ensure that the keyboard connectors stay aligned with those on the main unit.

So, immediate add to the 2007 wish list or just a pipe dream?
