It has been a long while coming but the iPAQ hw6900 Mobile Messenger series is now available in the US through the HP web site. Two models are available: the iPAQ hw6940 and hw6945. The two models are identical except that the hw6945 adds a 1.3MP camera.
Powered by a 416Mhz Intel PXA270 Processor 416 MHz and Windows Mobile 5 with MSFP, the hw6900 comes with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE capabilities, 64MB RAM and 128MB ROM, 802.11b Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 1.2, Serial IR and GPS. It will also come with both a MiniSD and SDIO slots and a square 240×240 screen.
Both models are currently available for $599 USD. Shipments will begin on September 13.
For us Canadians, there is still no word on when the iPAQ hw6900 series will be available. What I have heard through the grapevine though suggests late October or November.
