Konica to stop making cameras and film

Konica Minolta has announced that it is pulling out of the business of cameras and colour film. Production will stop by March 2006 for cameras and 2007 for film. This follows a very similar announcement earlier this month from Nikon.

As part of this decision, Konica Minolta will sell some digital camera assets to Sony. They may also work with Sony on production of Sony-branded DSLRs and lenses.

Konica Minolta first produced photographic paper in 1903 and Japan’s first colour film in 1940.
