NVidia and Intel are working together to combine Intel’s 3rd generation of XScale processors (codenamed Monahans) with NVIDIA’s GoForce handheld graphics processing units (GPUs). The Monahans processor has already been shown to run at 1.25GHz and the GoForce 5500 promises to deliver fluid digital TV, high-fidelity surround sound, rapid multi-shot photography, and console-class 3D graphics.
Smartphones equipped with the NVIDIA GoForce 5500 handheld GPU are expected in time for the end of the year. Can PDAs and other form factors be far behind?
