Rogers begins offering portable Internet service

Rogers has launched a portable Internet service in 20 cities across Canada. The service delivers 1.5 mbps download and 256 kbps upload service wirelessly using a wireless modem and the Inukshuk network, a wireless broadband service built by Rogers and Bell Canada. The service provides 5 email accounts and the same suite of services as the Rogers Yahoo! Hi-Speed Internet plans.

The Portable Internet from Rogers Yahoo! Hi-Speed Internet is available for $49.95/month plus modem purchase at $99.95 and a one-year commitment.

There is obvious one downside to this service: The modem you carry around with you needs a power outlet!
